Meet the Peterson Team

Peterson Insurance is steeped in local history, and yet packed with modern insurance know-how. The agency opened its doors in 1966 and has been growing ever since, gaining Starkey Insurance (founded in 1930) as a partner in 2009. Peterson Insurance agents offer 80-plus years of collective industry experience, and its capable support staff adds more. Get to know the Peterson team.

Jay A. Peterson

A commercial insurance producer since 1979, Jay Peterson learned the business alongside his father and agency founder, Corky Peterson. Jay guided the transition in 2009 as Peterson Insurance was joined by long-time Clinton insurer Starkey Insurance Agency. Today, Jay serves a clientele that spans several states, providing asset protection and risk management services. He is a long-standing member and past president of the Independent Farm Insurance Agents of Illinois, and is a Partner in the Central Illinois Agents Group, LLC. and Region 3 Director for the IIA of Illinois.

Donna L. Parker

Donna L. Parker has served as a trusted insurance resource since 1981. She earned an Associate’s degree from Richland Community College, and obtained her producer license in for property, casualty, life and health insurance in 1984. Donna worked for Moots-Phillips Insurance Agency from 1981 to 1988, and then joined Starkey Insurance. Today, Donna holds a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation, and serves as a trustee for the Clintonia Township.

Dustin A. Peterson

Dustin Peterson began working at Peterson Insurance in 2003. He is licensed and experienced in all lines of insurance with an emphasis in property and casualty insurance. Dustin earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the College of Business at Northern Illinois University in May 2003. Since joining the agency, he has worked hard to put the needs of clients first, giving attention to detail and staying current with the ever-changing insurance products available.

Dexter Peterson began his career at Peterson Insurance in 2007 after receiving a degree in Business Management with a specialty in Entrepreneurship from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill. Dexter sells and services all products available through Peterson Insurance, specializing in personal insurance lines including auto, home and recreational vehicles, as well as commercial and life insurance. Dexter has been on the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors since 2011 and is currently serving his 2nd year as Board President.

Michele Sanders supports Peterson Insurance’s commercial insurance customers, gathering quotes for prospective clients and helping match customer needs to the best carriers and coverage available. Michele also assists existing customers with renewals, as well as reviews, to help clients avoid coverage gaps. Having received the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) accreditation, Michele provides adept assistance on all kinds of commercial policies, from large to small.

Crop and Farm Specialist

Leslie French assists Peterson Insurance customers with insurance needs related to farm, farm auto, multi-peril and hail policies. Leslie’s experience allows her to respond to diverse policy questions related to farm and crop policies. She also handles farm and crop policy changes and renewals, and helps customers through hail, replant and multi-peril claims.

Melissa Wright supports Peterson Insurance’s personal line customers--those working to properly ensure their families’ homes and automobiles. Well-versed in this work, Melissa is licensed in both the property and casualty insurance categories. On a day-to-day basis, she assists with policy changes, answers policy questions, manages billing information and helps agents research and prepare quotes.
